I can't get a clear answer concerning this option for my front diffy as to how it performs. It has no clutch plates to wear out. That's a good thing. I'm considering installing one.

How does it grab traction on a scale from a LSD, to a severe LSD like an Auburn, to a locker? I get info like "it's neither; it's a dual axle diffy". Huh? What I want to know is if I take the trouble to spend the bucks to put one in, how hard will it grab traction for me?

Who has used one of these, and how do/did you like it?

Gerald, I don't have one, so I can't speak from experience. But, I can give you my FWIW, IMHOpinion, based on years of magazine reading! It IS a limited slip, is NOT a locker. It's better than the Auburn, tighter, but will still release at some point. I assume you don't want a locker up front, so this is THE closest you can get. I've wanted one for quite a while, but they weren't available for the Dana 35 when I had my axles done.

A trutrac is a LSD like RangerX said; it's known as a torsen differential. (ie, it's a gear driven LSD)

It will slip; but you can get it to lock up by applying slight brake pressure when it's slipping.

It's also what is put into Hummers.

A friend of mine had one in his Bronco. He liked it, and could most anywhere. If he lifted a wheel, he just applied a little brake pressure, and on he went.

FWIW, I'm going to put one in the front of my truck. The plan is to have the new rear end with a Detroit and front gears and TruTrac installed my mid-July. We're going to Kentucky for a long weekend of wheeling, and I would like to test out the new setup before the Colorado trip.

Hi,
I saw the qustion on the true-trac and wanted to say go for it. I use a true-trac in the rear and it locks up fine. If it does slip ride the brakes a little and it locks up. I just faced a jeep club on Spring Creek with the Navajo, and I give full credit to the true-trac. I didn't think they made one for the Dana 35 reverse IFS like we have though. Detroit makes one for the regular Dana 35 (jeep cherokee rear). If Detroit makes one for us please post because I will be putting one in also.

Yep, I need to check if it's available for our fronts. I'm not totally sure of that so I guess that would be the first step, huh.

I'm 99% sure a TruTrac is available for our front Dana 35s. I was quoted a price for one from my local shop, but I haven't ordered it yet, so I'm not 100% sure. ;)

Yes, a TruTrac is available for a Dana 35. In fact, one is sitting in my garage waiting to be installed!
