93 Ranger that I am replacing the bed with a flat bed. I have two of these lights that I am usingLink. I have a draw-tite trailer convertor that plugs in between the factory harness at the frame and bed. Current way I have it wired:

Frame harness> plug in Trailer Harness> Factory wiring for tail lights.

Out of the trailer Harness I have 4 wires.
Green > right turn and brake
Yellow> Left turn and brake
Brown> both sides tails spliced together.
White> Not used. Grounded lights strait to Frame.

When I have the factory tail light harness and lights plugged in when I turn on a turn signal the opposite sides taillight flashes with the turn signal. For example turn on left turn signal. Factory left bulb flashes, new led left light flashes, and right side tail light flashes. Turn on the right turn signal and it will do the exact reverse.

If I unplug the factory rear light harness I get a solid signal in the dash, solid turn on the correct side and the tail light on the other side comes on.

Hooking the white wire up out of the trailer harness makes no difference.

Any ideas? I would like to get rid of as much of the factory harness as possible.

Try grounding the lights to the wiring harness and the frame.
Did your Ranger have separate brake and signal lights?
Why are you trying to use the factory lights and the new lights?
Try unplugging the factory tail lamp harness and just using the trailer adaptor.
I have those same lights on our horse trailer. They don't fade in the sun, and are very bright. Great deal.

Try grounding the lights to the wiring harness and the frame. Tried grounding to frame, to harness, to frame and harness. No difference
Did your Ranger have separate brake and signal lights? Yes. Seperate bulbs for turn signals. Now I am trying to get the same bulb to do both.
Why are you trying to use the factory lights and the new lights?Don't want to use the factory lights. the only way I get the get the turn signals to flash is with the factory bulbs plugged in.

Just do what I do; leave it along for a few days. When you come back to it, it will be plain as day what is wrong.
There should be three wires going to each light, correct?
One ground, one lights, and one signal/brake.
Try switching the wires around, they might be reversed on one side or wired wrong internally (Harbor Freight).
