For some reason on my 96 the door ajar light is on. The lights don't go off when you turn the car off and shut the door, and eventually it keeps killing my battery. I've checked the fuses and they all seem to be fine. It started on day afterI opened the liftgate, and now my rear wiper doesn't work either. The rear fluid pump runs but the wiper blade does not. How does the truck know when a door is ajar? I'm not sure where to begin. Thanks!

Sounds like the problem lies in the latch that holds the glass shut. Try working it a few times open and closed to try and free it up. If the glass is ajar the wiper will not work so you can't accidentally break the arm.

I just looked at the schematic and there are three switches in parallel that serve two functions. Turning on the light and disabeling the wiper are controled by the GEM. It indicates a right and left switch for the door and and one for the glass latch. Any one of these could do it.

I've tried working the latch back and forth and it appears to be working. The glass shuts and locks, but the door ajar light still won't go off. Are there any other things I should be checking? Also what are those three switches that you are refering to? Where exactly are they located?
