Maybe it's just in my head. But I did the TT/Shackle job about 3 years ago now ('04 Sport Trac, 2x4). I was just wondering if they, like regular coil springs, need to be replaced after so many miles, and if so, does doing the TT cause them to wear faster?

And also by chance would the TT/wearing torsion bars be the source of a creaking sound that I have seemed to develop?

torsion twist will shorten the lift of the torsion bars, and make them more likely to sheer, although if it's all street duty (no full compression) it will have little if any effect.

i have never had a coil spring fail, and i haven't heard about replacing them after so many miles/years/bumps etc (i think thats snake oil to sell you more springs)
