TT and Shackles were done last night. In what I'm thinking might be record time. We were compleatly finshed, tools put away and everything in 35 minutes. I guess it just proves that anything is easy with the right tools. Everything went very smoothly. Old ones came right off. New ones went right on. Got the torsion twist right on the first try. Ended up with 2 inches in the rear and one in the front. My rear was sitting an inch lower than the front so I only went up 1 in the front to keep it level. Well that's the story... I'll post a couple pics when I get the chance.

Sounds perfect. Let's get some pics of your "after".

should have them scanned by monday... I was just out look at the X. I think the lift is noticable when I stand back away from it but what I really notice is the fact that I need some bigger tires!!! I hear walmart has some 31x10.5 on sale for $80 a piece, might have to invest in some pretty soon. It's just a shame becasue the tires on there only have about 10k on 'em.

I'd sell your current tires and get something decent for replacement. I highly reccommend some BFGs. Remember, you get what you pay for.

PS. How do I get slurry seal off my leather seats/ carpet?

Glad to hear yours went so quick... mine took 1 1/2 hours; although I may be considered technically inept :D I did the TT and shackles with 3500 miles on my truck/tires, so I know what you mean. Post some pics when you get them scanned. The front may settle to a bit lower than what it measures now, although mine didn't, I think it depends on what torsionbars you have. Hope you are happy with the results.

With TT is there anything to worry about or know prior to going in head-first?? Just wondering how you measure and get them even??

Thanks

You should measure the fender height from the ground first (or bumper height) and try to turn the bolts the same amount of turns. It's a pretty simple process.

I've heard you should tighten them while its on the ground AND while its jacked up. I personally did mine when it was off the ground. I don't think it makes that big o deal. Just dont forget to take your pre measurements so you know when to stop! I'd raise it right about 2" only.

Yeah I measured it tongiht and checked the bolts on the shackles to make sure they weren't coming loose. The front hasn't settled any so far. I'll check it again in a couple days. One other good thing about putting this lift on is the I noticed that my front diff is leaking a little bit. I'll take it into the shop sometime this week and get it fixed.

As far as the slurry seal.... I'm not really sure what that is but going from the name I'm gonna say it's some kinda sealent??? hahaha... Anyway the fix for that is actually pretty easy. You find a good upholstry(sp?) shop and drop it off and tell them you need new seats. ha! Explain to me what it is, and how it is on there... texture of it and whatnot and I might have an idea.

Its that black stuff you spread on asphalt. Yeah, its a sealent. Nasty stuff too. I got it inside and out on my rig! I'm pretty sure it's water-based and not oil-based. But the stuff drys and thats all she wrote. I've scrubed the leather seats and eventually some would come off. But I got it on the carpet and door too! I need a new rig just for working I think! Thanks!

ok on the leather your really not gonna have much luck. The carpet on the other hand may just make it. Here's what I would try... Take a metal brush like you would use to brush a dog or a cat and use it on the spots on the carpet. I'm assuming it's kinda spotted and not big spills or anything. Anyway as you brush the spots pull towards you and then up. This should pull the carpet fibers apart just enough to get it out without it being really noticeable. That would be my first idea.

Thanks man. I'm about to break out the pressure washer and go to town on the interior! :D I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the help!

If I twist the bars, and then buy new tires (BFG A/T's), I should get an alingment afterwards right? I'm just trying to research this TT thing, and also.... how much lift do you get out of Warrior Shackles vs. the AAL kit?

Yes you'll need an alignment after the TT.

I think the shackles will give you about 1 1/2". I got 1 5/8" from my AAL. But I think the average is less than that.

What's the difference between the two?

Shackles are the ladder lookin brackets that come off the frame and hold the rear of the leaf springs in place.

Add-a-leafs are just that. Its an extra leaf spring that you insert between your stock ones creating more of an arch which results in more lift.

hey, i got my shackles, but im having a lot of trouble gettin them on. where do you guys put the jack stands in the rear??? the leaf springs are in the way of the frame everywhere. plus i dropped my truck twice from my factory jack flopping over when i had it on wood blocks to get more height. dont you have to rest it on the jackstands so that the tires are barely off the ground, how do you get it so high?

also, about how many turns does it take to get the TT. i turned them twice and got about 1" and then turned them a third time and didnt get much more. im guessing it takes about 6 turns, does this sound right?

When I put in my AAL I think I jacked up the rear from my receiver. But when I did my shackles I'm pretty sure I used the jack stands in front of the leaf springs on the frame. I used the factory jack between the leafs and the frame to relieve tension off the leafs. The whole event seemed pretty dangerous to me. Just try not to get under the truck too much and watch for flying leaf springs!

hey thanks that helps a lot, i wasnt sure if it was too off balance by placing the jack stands so far forward. im going to have go out and get a floor jack.

about how many full turns of the torsion screws do i have to make?

I did about 2 1/2 turns for 1 inch of lift.
