I will need to replace some of the front end when I get my 1991 explorer this week. I am probably going to have to rebuild the front diff, are they reverse rotation gears(high pinion)? Or could I use any gears for a dana 35? The hubs may need to be gone through, are they tricky to deal with or is it easy to rebuild/replace them?

All TTB axles are Hi-Pinion.

You didn't mention if the hubs are manual or auto...
Manual ones are fairly easy to deal with, just take 'em apart, clean 'em up and reapply a thin layer of wheelbearing grease to everything (don't pack it full of grease though, or it won't lock in properly).

Best way to deal with the auto hubs: Switch to manuals.

Unless this thing has an obvious internal front diff problem (or you're changing ratios), I wouldn't worry about the R&P gears at all. They usually don't need anything more than just new seals (in addition to the usual stuff like balljoints, wheelbearings, axle u-joints, etc.).

Thanx for the input. I am thinking about re-gearing if it didn't come with 4.10s
The front end may be really messed up any way, you can grab the driveshaft right by the yoke and wiggle it around. I am hoping it's just the pinion bearings or something like that but who knows.
I'm looking around and all I can find are 4.56s in the reverse cut. Does anybody know where I might find some 4.10s?
