Well, I was hoping to maybe get a few suggestions or tips on a plug wire/plugs changeout on a 96 Explorer. My sister has a 96 Ex (V6 4.0L) and I thought I would be nice and give the truck a tune up. I havent done this on a 96 explorer. I already bought the plugs and wires. I took a quick glance under the hood the other day and the drivers side doesnt look to be too difficult, but the passenger side looks like theres some hoses and such obstructing a little bit. Can anyone suggest some tip/tricks/pointers/tool recommendations for this? About how long do you think this would take? Thanks! :D

Take em one at a time, and be patient. If the passenger side seems impossible, take the passenger side wheel off and get to it from under there. The first time I changed the plugs and wires in mine, it took a couple of hours, b/c the boots were stuck on the plugs. I can change the whole deal in under 30 minutes now. So i guess it depends on how much everything co-operates with you.

Thanks, I was beginning to think no one was gonna reply. :D Did ya use regular plug sockets or swivel heads? Just regular tools?

Both
You're going to find that the wires are a bear to restring around the back end of the engine also. Take note of the looms and paths before dismantling.

I would clean the MAF, the IAC, and also change the air filter if not recently done. Don't forget to disconnect the battery for 20 minutes to clear the cpu to get the best performance when you're done.
