I would really like to perform a tune-up to my 2000 Explorer XLT V8. I'm on a limited budget but would like some suggestions on good spark plugs and leads for a decent price.
I also want to change my fuel filter, do I need a special tool in order to extract the old filter??

Go OEM for wires and plugs. Motorcraft works and is tried and true. Won't break the ban either. Use anti-seize on the threads and dielectric grease on the boots to insure those plugs/wires come out easily when/if you do it again. I seem to recall the tool to do the fuel filter is cheap too.

Search for forum for "Seafoam". Do the treatment via PCV method. I find the brake booster method has limited effectiveness. PCV method is a pain in the arse, but the results are noticeable.

Welcome to the 5.0 clique. :)
