2005 Explorer Sports Trac
Hi,

My 2005 Explorer Sports Trac turn signal stopped working. When I engaged on the left or right signal, it will click once then stopped. However, the hazard lights works fine. I'm thinking this may be a flasher relay issue but not sure and would like to find out if anyone on this forum have encountered similar issue. If it's the flasher relay, where is the relay located and how to replace it.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Tony

I know this sounds dumb, but when the flashers are on, do ALL of the lights flash? If you have a bad bulb , (either front or back) the turn signal will not flash but the emergency flashers will...turn the flashers on and get out and walk around the Trac...could have a bulb out on both sides at the same time. Stranger things have happened.

All the lights flashes when the hazard is on. When the turn signal is engaged, either left or right, both the front and rear lights are on but not flashing.

In an '02, it appears the flasher relay is in Auxiliary box 2, which I think is one of the small black boxes under the dash near the steering column.

My truck does not have the tilting steering column. I'll look at the Steering Wiring Diagram that you provided and see if it provides solution.

Thank you.

Just an update. I replaced the Flasher Relay and the turn signal worked for about a minute then it went out again. I'm now suspecting it might be the wiring in the steering column that may be the issue. Since I have no experience working with the electrical wiring of a car, I'll contact a mechanic to do the troubleshoot.

Thanks all for your input.

Tony
