The control trac 4wd high is for all around light 4 wheelin. You need to use the 4 wheel low for any real low speed traction.
OD is just a high gear. Use it when not pulling anything or not going up steep hills. Cut it off when towing or when on high grade roads.

try the search function...... anyway... 4x4 low is for majotr torque and for below 20 MPH, 4x4 hi is for 4WD and anything above 20 where more traction is needed than 2wd but not enough to justify using low range... the tranny in d is fine for most driving... i only use OD when on the freeway for best fuel economy.. the streets I only use Drive

Since you have a 95 with the pushbutton OD just leave it on most of the time. I turn mine off when I want to manually downshift into third on the highway or when towing.

You pretty much never want to use the auto 4x4 unless you're on a slick road. In any real offroad situation switch over to 4-low.

if ur doing city driving.. is it better for fuel economy to put OD on or off?

OD is only used above about 55 or 60 mph. It's 4th gear (or 5th on the later autos). Unless it keeps shifting in and out of OD when you're cruising, leave it there.

If strictly city, you may never make it to OD, so it wouldn't make any difference. As far as MPG, you prolly wouldn't see any diff between the two.
