Two Tone explorer question

So on the two tone paint scheme explorers, in the lower section with the dark gray there is a raised piece with a chrome strip running through it. Can that piece be removed? I have a white door that needs that section painted, but the strip near the top doesn't match the passenger style. Any suggestions, or has anyone done this?

yes that body side moulding can be removed.

It is held on with super strong two sided tape.
