3/4" MDF is usually a good choice.

Yeah definately MDF. Leenjen says if you use particle or ply wood the boards will flex, which in turn hurts bass and sound quality. ;)

not only that, but MDF is denser which helps to deaden ths enclosure.

Yeah.......im using MDF on my CV Stroker 15" and we used it on (3) JL Audio 15W6s......does great and easy to work with.

i know this is off topic but btrs X what are you going to power your Stroker with (amp)?

Amp

Right now I am still in the debating process. I am considering:

Kicker ZR1000 (last years model)
Kicker KX 800.2 (new model)
Precision Power 2200
Orion XTR 1400
Zapco Ref 900 or Studio 500
Infinity Beta Digital 300x

I know that is a lot of amps but I want to consider all of these in order to get the best. If anyone has had any experience with these amps suggestions are welcome. Right now I have to sell my Kicker ZR240 and Kicker ZX460 amps to get this project going.:D

is your stroker a dvc or sc i have an rockford fosgate bd1500.1 i cant seem to find a 15 or 18 in svc style for my amp at anything below $400.

Mine is a SVC 4ohm. I cant wait to install it.

if you dont mine me asking how much did you pay and where did you get it was it new or used thanks?

I got it for $242.50 from a friend. He had it for about 6 months and the box was too big for his car and he didnt have a big enough amp to push it. I got all my MDF to build the box this weekend. The sub came via FedEx today and apparently they dropped/crushed the box......the frame and surround of the Stroker was destroyed. THIS SUCKS!!! They are supposed to come get it tomorrow and refund my money. Now I need to find another one! I am so disappointed and pissed.....that FedEx driver better hope he can out run an Explorer!!!

before marine grade plywood, i would use HDF. we use it for a lot of custom installs, high power subwoofer enclosures, and component set installs.
but MDF is the most commonly used material for a subwoofer enclosure. in the old days, lots of people used marine grade plywood.

damn BTR i would of been dropping f-bombs all over them. that sucks too since you got it so cheap! try looking on ebay for 15s but most of them are dvc not svc. you can get an used 15 for about 320$ and a brand new one for $400. hope this helps. good luck finding a svc :(

mdf works well but HDF high density fiberboard is even better and is not that much more expensive, something to think about.

FedEx came and got my Stroker yesterday....they sent an old man to come pick it up (smart move). They are going to refund my money, but now I have to find another sub!
