Not sure if everyone noticed as i didn't till just now. but letting everyone know there is the link in the notice section right above the "Sticky" threads. i know there has been plenty of times i needed a trailer and got short handed by this issue. so sign this petition so we can erase what firestone screwed up for us. when you click the link it mentions that completely identical vehicles in build, such as the mountaineer and aviator and ranger are all still able to use u haul only explorers are exempt due to the tire issues that were completely firestone's fault and in no way ford's fault.

so please if you haven't yet please do so now... go to the very top of the thread listing above the sticky section and put your name on the petition.

I second this. I just looked up info to tow a car and they won't let me use my truck thats perfectly capable of doing so.

I signed!
I called it discrimination! just because a few morons don't know how to tow with an explorer. everyone has to suffer!

Signed.

I Signed earlier today and thought about making a Thread about this issue , I do not tow with my Navajo but will if i do a 5 speed swap , Hopefully this will get settled once and For all !!

I don't see it today. Maybe if someone can link it here? I'd happily sign that. I ran into that problem a year ago when they wouldn't let me rent a trailer I could have hauled. Had to go with one of their big trucks. Such a waste.

It says the link won't work:/

fixed the link now. dang javascript kicks my butt. it works now though.

REally??? Just go buy your own trailer !!

Hopefully the link help to get more people aware.

ok race for food are you military??? have you had to PCS to different bases? its a pain waiting on the military to put your move on a website where moving companies make bids on your stuff and you sit waiting unsure if your stuff will get picked up or not.

i know this cause i have lived this issue and had to hunt down a rental trailer that i could haul. i waited 4 months with no luck to get a moving company to do it. i had the truck and had no need to get a box truck and spend butt loads in fuel.

for a one time haul i dont want to deal with a 2000+ dollar bill for a enclosed trailer and instead went with a 150 dollar 5 day rental.

No personal interest in this myself but I signed for the cause.

Thanks. Just signed.

Petition

I have read through the "change.org" terms of service and privacy policy which all sounds pretty standard and on the "up and up". My question is what happens when the count reaches 200? Is that a minimum count required to submit the petition to U-Haul, or will 200 even get U-Hauls attention? Just wondering. I agree that buying a trailer to use only occasionally is not practical (registration annually + storage issues) when I can lay out a few bucks and give it back to the rental agency.

200 or even 1000 people signing a petition on a public feel-good petition site isn't going to get U-Haul to contact their underwriters and demand a change who have advised them that the potential losses from a lawsuit related to Ford Explorers (no matter who was responsible for the flipovers) are too great to overcome and the cost to carry insurance coverage to protect themselves from liability is astronomical- in case even one person can get a judge to rule in their favor for a bogus trailer lawsuit.

It isn't going to happen anytime soon. The potential gain is nowhere near what they could lose.

200 is your standard count for a petition. and yes dirt i understand where you are coming from but how do you explain a mercury mountaineer of the same spec and year to an explorer. that's straight discrimination towards ford explorers when in fact the 00 v8 explorer you own is the same exact chassis, powerplant, drivetrain, and body as a 00 v8 mountaineer
