my 94 x sport has developed a sort of clunking sound from the suspension / transfer case area when i am going at a slow rate of speed (especially on bumps) or applying the brakes. I also hear a tapping sound from front driver side similar to that coming from front end at low speed and when stopping.
ive installed new inner and outer wheel bearings
lubed the slip jokes
ive been thinking maybe u joints but could use some input on how much play, if any, is allowed in the drive shafts (tranny and transfer). when i was lubing the slip yokes it notices when i rotated the drive shafts, i could duplicate the noise in the u joints and transfer case.
anyone got ideas on what i can check and the proper way to do that to trouble shoot the suspension and drive train?
