Ugh gear ratio decisions, help me out

The 4.10 is giving me alot of power. I really don't need 1st gear. The 3.08 just seemed sluggish in all driving conditions. I can go up hill by just pushing the gas pedel down no down shifting. I am loseing around 4 mpg, and it is worth it. I found a 94 explorer friday and now have extra overhead console and autodimming mirror. It has limited slip 373 geared rearend. I am really thinking it would be a better gear ratio. It is setup different, probly wont fit my truck.I will have to give it a little thought. I am only 2.3 with 2 wheel drive. I might swipe rear tail lights and front ones to?

Maybe it is the difference of the auto, run in the drivers seat of a manual with bigish tires and small gears if you get the chance and tell us if it is different:D I do not like the power loss between my wifes truck ( same everything except tire size *235-75-15 *and lift *none*) and mine.

maybe. people saythe a4ld hasnt treated them good but man i will tell you, my brother has taken that thing everywhere and all he has to do is lock the hubs put it in low range 4x4 and first gear and i dont think he has ever had a problem or hasnt completed a trail run because of it with his 3.73's

An automatic will see the effects of being undergeared a lot worse than a manual. I can't stand being undergeared, it drives me friggin crazy, my rig is perfect with my street 31s and is a dog with 34s. Some people don't mind it, I do. Being undergeared isn't going to prevent you from completing a trail, it just puts the RPMs all in the wrong range on the street and lugs the engine too much and puts more stress on your engine and transmission. I'm upgrading to 4.56s soon so I can run 33s on the street and roll the the 34s as well.

Well I just completed a intense run without a working front driveline ( had 2 low though:) ) and only had to get tow strapped a kilometer total in 30 on rocky ledges. It is just that I want more!
