Update on 08-10 STA Drop Springs.

I have been slowly getting some drop springs ready for production for RWD and AWD Sport Tracs.

I've done a 1.5" and a 2.0" for AWD only so far.

This is a pretty damn expensive project and I'd like to sell some of the prototypes as I'm putting the project on hold until spring.

You had stated before that the springs are 15% ( I believe thats the amount ) higher rate over stock. Do you actually know what the rate is?

I can look up the exact rate but they are engineered to be 15% stiffer. I was not planning on publishing all the stats. I consider all of this propriatary information.

The reason I wanted to know is because of the dampers I am having built. The factory ones are insufficient at best on rebound for the stock springs. I would like to know either the stock rate or your aftermarket springs in order to figure out the valving rates. If I can't get the info I can not buy them.

Front: 475#/in
Rear: 310/400/in

The springs I have made now are setup for an AWD so I don't think you wil get the full drop benifit with your RWD. In the process of doing up a RWD 2.0" drop now.

Thanks for the rate info. I presume the rear is a progressive rate. The problem lies in my quick on vehicle loaded measurements and specs from Monroe. A drop of 1" in the front is almost compressing the damper to near full compression. Hense no travel at ride height... I am working on a swap from an F150 for the front and possibly the rear also. I have the damper rates from Bilstein now. What differences do you see for rates between the AWD and RWD? Dampers are the same right? I have not been able to find any differences as of yet.

That is an excellent question. I have no idea if the dampers are the same for FWD and AWD. I know the springs are slightly different. I can tell you that if you put my AWD springs on a RWD, the drop is half what it is on an AWD.

I can only assume that the dampers are the same for both vehicles as their suspension travel is the same. The only difference being weight in the AWD versus RWD variants.

The rear springs on the RWD and AWD are the same part number from what I can tell. The fronts are different though.
