05 drop springs on 4th gen?

I have a 4th gen X and like a lot of people want to lower it. I hear from another thread that the 3rd gens have our coilovers on all 4 corners.

I am wondering if anyone has used 3rd gen drop springs for their coilovers on 4th gens? Or if anyone knows if this will work? Any info would be appreciated.

I have contacted several custom spring companies, but the only 2 that responded were coilsprings.com and springworks.com.


I had asked for a 1.5" front and rear drop and 20% stiffer for my 2006 Mountaineer. They both could do it.

Springworks wanted $776 for the set of 4.
Coilsprings.com wanted just shy of $500 for the set of 4.

My only question is about the alignment after a 1.5" drop. Is there enough adjustment in the Mountaineers suspension to cover that?
