i have a rockford four channel amp and i'm using the factory wire for the door speakers and i think it's time to upgrade. i got some 14 guage and i wanted to know the best way to get the new wire from the door through that little rubber passage way to inside the car. i tried using a coat hanger but it just wasn't happening. do i have to start drilling or is there another way?

my unlcle uses this kind of metal tape thing to fish wires for telephones..mabey that would help? i think u can get something similar at home depot

i say tape because its in a roll..its flat and thin very plyable and has a rounded off tip that u shove through whatever u want then just tie the wire onto the end and pull it through

thanx for the advice. has anyone ever actually done the wiring? if so, what did you use?

Its called a cable snake.

I used some mechanics wire. ( some call it bailing wire )
Fished it through.
Made a loop.
Tied the speaker cable.
Soaked it with some Zep 45 ( WD-40 )
A tug with a little work here and there.
Eventually it works it's way through.

Go to the electrical section of your favorite hardware store and get a tool that electricians use. It is called a fish tape. It is on a spool with a windup handle, the end has a small loop on it for attaching the wire you want to pull. Just fish it through where you want the wire to go attach your speaker wire and wind away. The fish wire is just flexible enough to go in any place you need it to go without doubling up and getting stuck. I actually started from the door side and pulled the rubber boot out of the hole in the door, scrunched it up some and fed the wirre from the fish tape into the cab then attached my speaker wire to it and pulled it that way.
