Wheel hop was a nightmare on my truck.... and it made my wife really nervous - too nervous to drive the truck.
I had one turn on my way home from work that caused the rear end to kick out several inches in dry weather and it seemd like more when it was wet.
So, I went with the X-Spec suspension kit from Explorer Express - it consists of the following:
Edlebrock shocks front and rear
Bigger rear sway bar
Poly bushings for the bigger rear sway bar
I passed up on their additional parts that can slightly lower the truck - I get tons of snow where I am so I didn't want to compromise my snow driving.
To tighten up the front end I also got poly bushings and end links for the stock front sway bar.
I installed them about 4,000 miles ago and WOW!
NO more wheel hop at all!
My truck handles soooo much better.
It is much more even when going through turns.
The front end doesn't dive down when I hit the brakes hard.
When I hit bumps/ pot holes, it doesn't sound like the trucks suspension is falling apart anymore!
The suspension is considerably firmer than stock.
I've run all different types of suspensions on my Firebird and Trans Am so having a firmer suspension didn't bother me.
Could it bother someone who only knows what the stock set up is.... maybe.... but I did my research and this kit solved my concerns with my truck and made it much more enjoyable to drive.
I'd def reccomend this kit!
