upper ball joint replacement.Single or adjuster?

I have a 99 sport that I have noticed the upper and lower ball joints on the control arm need to be replaced.On the passenger side,my control arm has a 2 piece adjustable arm but I have noticed that alot of people switch them out for the single unit.What is the difference?What does the adjuster control?

It controls caster/camber. I replaced mine to the solid type more out of convenience than anything. The parts store that had the parts I wanted in stock only had the solid type. If you replace it with the solid type, you will need to purchase the alignment kit seperately.
