Long story short, my fuel plenum gaskets were eaten by the motor, I replaced both gaskets and reassembled the intake. I key the motor and it starts to spin strong, sounds like it starts to fire then a sudden clunk, no spin and the lights dim. Think maybe something fell into the intake? I disconnected the battery to clear the ecu, and tried with the same result. Same story with disconnecting the maf.

Almost acts like its hydrolocked when it stops, but key off and an immediate second try to start it will start the spin then sputter all over and clunks out again.

Any ideas? Stuck injector spewing fuel? Foreign material in the cylinder? I'm at a loss as to what happened! Thanks!

take out the spark plugs, roll it with a socket on the snout nut in the front flywheel, see if it stops hard, or turns freely,,
could be foreign matter in a cylinder or filling it up with a leaking injector,
with the plugs out there is less resistance to it turning over, and do not roll it on the starter as if there is something in there, it will damage stuff forcing it past whatever is in there,

Thanks I'll try that, I'm thinking/hoping it must be an injector since it turns over several times before locking up. Stinks like gas afterwards too. No leaks visible on outside.

Any chance that I boogered up an injector on removal or install? They're originals at 148k. Maybe pushed crud in the tip?
