US Acoustics 800D

I have a US Acoustics 800D amplifier, and I'd like to hook it up to two subs that are two ohms each. However, I don't understand the specs. The amp physically has two sets out outputs. Here are the specs, from their website.

RMS per channel @ 4 Ohms
@ 12.9v input 400Wx1CH
RMS per channel @ 2 Ohms
@ 12.9v input 600Wx1CH


But there are two channels coming out of the amp! I don't understand....

Since the subs are two ohms, and the amp is two ohm stable, all you need to do is wire each sub to its own channel. You'll get the most power and SQ. It's also easy!

I understand that. My problem is that the amp is rated 2 ohm stable x 1 channel, but there are two channels on the amp! Does this mean they're internally bridged, and that I should give each set of terminals a 4 ohm load, which would drop to two inside the amp?

Exactly, it's a Mono-Block amp that is internally bridged (paralled). I'm assuming you have dual 2 ohm subs, so just series wire each sub to a 4 ohm load. Then when hooked up, the amp will internally parallel the subs to a 2 ohm load.

I have two subs, DVC w/ each voice coil at 4 ohms. So, if the monoblock thing holds true, I can wire these so the amp sees a 1 or 8 ohm load. I wired them for the 8 for a while, now I've got them on 1, drove them hard, the amp never heated up or dropped into protect.

I know USX is very reliable, but I would be carfull. You should have thought about matching the amp and subs before you purchased. Dual 4ohm subs can be wired into 1ohm or 4ohms...
