USB Mobile Broadband anyone?

Sorry for opening an old thread...

I tried researching if my work-provided (albeit old) Sierra Wireless 595U USB Sprint modem would work in a new 2013 Ford Explorer that I was considering purchasing and came across this thread.

The 595U wasn't listed anywhere that I found and most people probably aren't still using it, but I am... and it works with my model (Sync VersionGen2 - V3.2.2)

I know a lot of people have said, 'I plug it in and get "no device connected"'. I did too. But that was with plugging it in with the system turned on. I powered the car/radio off and waited for the lights on the modem to turn off, left it plugged in and then restarted everything and this time it was detected properly. Setup was easy and I tested a wifi only device with it and had no problems getting to the Internet.

Just thought I'd update in case anyone else is out there searching for modems that are compatible with this system. Add the Sprint Sierra Wireless 595U model to the list...

Sierra 308 Shockwave

Well I know this is old, but I do have a 2011 Explorer I bought in Mexico (VIN number for sale outside the US) and upgraded the MFT to 3.5.1 and bought from amazon and unlocked ATT Sierra Wireless 308 (Shockwave) air card and ran the ATT communication Manager. Since my original air card was a ZTE-MF180 and never detected by MFT I just copied the APN settings from the software from my Mexican carrier into the ATT software and the modem was activated. After I just put the air card into the USB port and now, my kids are watching Netflix and there is peace LOL.

So MFT works very well with 3.5.1. and that particular air card and with a non-us mobile carrier with GSM chip.

Next step? To finally get the SiriusXM and the NAV working!!! (yes both works in Mexico too)

Oh the load of the APN settings into the air card via the ATT software had to be with Windows XP, no luck with windows 7 or 8....

Best regards
