1999 explorer xlt 4.0 soh
Hello friends ,I would to get help or tips on our explorer, me and my wife have always like the Ford Company, We have had some cars and trucks,a 1998 escord sport,2001 F150 v8 ,and a Ranger 1991 v6,and have always want an explorer so finally today we just bought our explorer. It is a xlt 4.0 sohc engine automatic 137400 miles, the help we need is that as we drove it back home after buying it we we were on the fwy and we started to hear a noise as we were getting speed on the fwy a noise compare like a a window was open just a little, wind or more like a raddled, the explorer runs fine and it changes gears fine, I am not a professional mechanic or an expert on describing engine or transmission noises, but it got us worry, could be the flying wheel, the timing chain, the transmission? even the tires the explorer have a set of really used tires size p/235/75r/15 Good Year Wangler Radial, are this the correct size for our explorer? We know that after getting a used truck we have to get all the requirements services that according to the mileage on the explorer , transmission service ,change the timing belt, a tune up, or anything that needs to be done ,so can anybody gives us some tips on what is to be done on our explorer in order to have it for a long period of time, and finally does anybody knows or is a professional Ford mechanic that can be recommended to us so the services can be perform by a Ford Professional mechanic around our area We live in Lynwood California L.A County,we don't want to take it to a Ford dealer or even to a mechanic shop that can just be charging us an arm and a leg and they will not know how to work on Ford Trucks. We want to thank you for your help We know there's a lot of questions, but we want go get our explorer in good conditions and ready for summer trips.:exp::thumbsup::)

Oh is like a buzzing noise Avery time you step on the gas and running ..

Welcome to the site

Hey check the weather stripping on the door next to the windshield on the drivers side, mine flipped under the door when it shuts and when driving I hear a wind sound next to the fuse panel area.. The weather stripping on the side of the windshield should sit on top of the door not under it when it is closed.. Short of that you might have a bad hub and bearing assembly, which can cause a whining metallic groan when driving...

This could be the weatherstripping on the driver side of the windshield it usually rests on the door when shut and mine flipped under partially which allows air to enter near the drivers fuse panel area when driving, if the stripping is where it should be then maybe you have a bad bearing and hub assembly on one of your tires... Causes a metal him or groan when they are bad, get the problem sorted out?

Whatever. Nobody Answered. Thought I would throw it out there, next time I will scrutinize everything! Master please no mo'
