Used Transmission Sources?

I found that my transmission is likely a Mazda M5OD-R1HD. I have a 2001 4.0L SOHC Sport Trac 5spd.

Where do people get replacements, aside from calling junkyards everywhere?

you can try searching through car-part.com as a lot of the "better" yards are on there, and they show distance from you, prices, and some will ship...

If you use the junkyard option (versus buying a rebuilt or rebuilding yourself) no need to call all the junkyards when you can search from where you are sitting right now.

Yes, I've used searchtempest which searches all of craigslist.


M5OD-R1HD

* 1997-2002 Ford Explorer (4.0 L SOHC V-6 engine)
* 2001-present Ford Ranger (4.0 L SOHC V6 engine)

Is that information correct? I saw that on wikipedia.

Does any other ford vehicle share the 2001 sport trac 5spd 4x2 transmission? I noticed on car-part.com it returned some 4.0L OHV Ranger transmissions. I don't think I want OHV right?
