Using a clay bar?

Nope, unfortunately you can't use modelling clay. Automotive detailing clay isn't a natural product, its synthetic and designed to pick up the particles without dragging them across the paint.

clear coat help

i have a 91 x and when i first got it i loved how the paint looked wet, like it should all the time. i used rubbing compound on it once and it made a bit of a differnece but not like i want it. i was wondering if a clay bar would do any better? itr also has white (spots) on both real whell wells. i think it is the clear coming up off of the paint. what would make this go away or help hide it till i get a new paint job on it. any help or advise will help.

Rubbing compound is bad news, you dont want to use that on the paint again...

A clay bar will remove surface contaminants without removing paint, unlike rubbing compound which is highly abrasive. Think of it as soft paste sandpaper.

As for the clear breakdown, not much you'll be able to do about that unfortunately.

the rubbing compound took off all the old dead crap that had built up. thanks for the info, im giong to go over it now with the clay and see how it dose.
