I've got a 95 explorer and want to put a 5.0 in it. Do I just need the motor mounts and exhaust manifolds off a 96 and newer or possibly what else? and will the AOD fit with my transfer case or do I need a new one of those too??

AA makes an adapter to fit the V6 transfer cases already so that shouldn't be a problem. But I highly recommend you swap to the manual TC just to be safe. Also, keep in mind that 96 is OBD II and has different wiring than your 95 has.

what is OBD II? The motor I have is not out of a '96 it is out of a late 80's lincoln 5.0 HO. Also would I need for the wiring harness. do they make an adapter for this type of conversion?

You need to start by getting a Helms Manual for your explorer. Since you have an OBDII and Gem computer system, you need to see if any computer inputs need to be fulfilled. Basically, what I am saying is, Does your vehicle need input from the engine Computer to make the explorer electronic functions work proprely. The wiring situation is a little bit "sticky" in your situation. For example on 91-94 explorers, the explorer body harness will work properly w/out any input from the engine.

Also, I am not talking about the obvious; oil, temp, tach, etc. I spent 3 months researching and planning my wiring.

GET HELMS MANUAL!!!
