v8 conversion

i was hoping someone on here has doen a v8 conversion on a 1st gen ex. Dont get me wrong the 4.3 v6 is a great engine but mine blew a head gasket and when i went to my mechanic he told me to just junk the engine cause it over heated. i would do most of the work myself to cut down on cost as much as possible. So if anyone has done this or knows annyone who has please help me out.

Didn't 4.3 Liter V-6's come in Chevy's All these years I thought I had a 4.0L

hah right you are, i was told it was a 4.3 when i got it and i was just to lazy or to unobservant to check lol, stll a great engine though

There are many examples here of 302's in 1st gen. trucks. It is fairly easy from what I have read. Using a complete 96-01 donor parts vehicle would be ideal for getting the best driveability(OBDII PCM control). Good luck,
