Ok guys well the swap is happening. I'm going from AWD to 2wd. I need to know how much longer the 2wd v8 driveshaft is than the regular AWD driveshaft. Im trying to figure out if I can extend my current one for have to find another one in a JY. Thanks in advance

I wish I had my old one still. But I sold it to some Toyota guy.

Actually, aren't they the same length and the 2wd trannie's come with a tail shaft extension or something? I know this is why hartman is still running around with his transfer case

I believe Hokie is right, usually Ford doesn't make different Driveshafts for 2wd and 4wd, they just add a Talishaft Housing that basically is the same length as the Transfer Case.

Any reason why you can't just leave the T-Case in and just remove the front Driveshaft?

Here are some pics of my two setups. To me, it looks like the 4wd tailshaft + transfer case is a lot longer than just the 2wd housing. You can go off where the cross member bolts up to the tranny (the red arrows). What do you think?

Ya, you are right Section, looks about 5 - 6" longer with the T-Case than with the Tailshaft, that's kind of surprising.

I just went and crawled under my 96 V-8 2wd and it was about 53.5 inches outside to outside. Are you having any tire rub with the 18's? I am going 18x9's with 255/55/18 in the front and 18x10's with 275/55/18 in the rear.

Ok it looks like im in the market for a new driveshaft then. I have almost no tire rub with my 255/55 18's just a little on the sway bar and i have about 4.5'' of drop up front. Now turnign hard in reverse and hitting a bump it will rub on the top a little but it has kinda trimmed itself ha ha
