2002 Eddie Bauer V8
Hi all.
I just imported a 2002 Eddie Bauer V8 Explorer into Botswana.

Unfortunately, the Police need the engine number on the invoice to clear it for importing.

I've searched as much as I can without starting to dismantle the engine, but cannot see the engine number.

Can anybody point me in the right direction to find it?

Cheers.

Code Information

The engine code information label, located on the side of the valve cover and the front side of the valve cover, contains the following:

Engine build date
Engine plant code
Engine code

Thanks for that.

Will I need to remove the plastic cover shown on top of the motor, or will I be able to see the number with a mirror under the edge of it?

The vehicle is currently 45 minutes drive away from me , so I need to go prepared.

Cheers.

I as well have the same problem for locating engine number for ford explorer V8 ,2002 model.its a 4.6ltr

Take the top cover off with 2 10mm and you should see it. You might have to wipe it off to see it.
