V8 explorer transmission code

What transmission comes in the late 90's v8 explorer 2wd? Been trying to find the code out for it. Thanks a lot for the help.

4R70W in all V8 explorers to 2001. With the new model in 2002, they went to the 5R55_ 5-speed auto. Bad decision in my mind, as the 4R70W is VERY durable.

If you are looking for one, look for a 1999 - 2001, as they have uprated friction material on the bands. They can handle more power.
