an AWD is gonna get marginally worse mileage than a 2wd. i would say 14-ish sounds good for an AWD V8 sport ute of any breed. and for some reason, mine gets 15 all town, or 15 mixed. i only get 20's when traveling.

i get anywhere from high 14s to mid 15s brisk city driving, never really take it on trips though. somehow whenever i get the car back after my sister uses it the computer is down to 12 or 13 EVERY time... hmm

I'm in the 13's with Mobil. Clark will put me into the 16's. I guess it loves that ethanol.

Highway around 16 or so
City a little lower 12 - 14 but really low now that I let the car warm up in the morning before i go to work.

14-16 in town and a high of 20.5 all highway, 18 or so w/ the box on top. Biggest problem is I can't keep my foot out of it. Somehow I've got the idea I have a mustang that can carry the whole family and gear for a weekend at grandmas.

Just a thought Jake - we should do this again in the summer time. Here in Chicago, they put that 'winter fuel additive' crap in that really degrades the performance of my MPG. I hope to see a +1-2 additional MPG when the summer fuel comes back!

16.3 overall

Sore subject.

Not good but what do you expect with a V-8 4wd. I pull in a lovely 12-15MPG. Unfortunatly I hardly ever hit the freeway. Mine sits in the Driveway all week, I drive my Ranger to work and My wife works at home so the X just sits there untill the weekend most of the time. I can watch the fuel gauge dropping with in town driving.

97' EB 5.0 AWD

the center computer says 13.7 but I'm not sure how accurate that is, I usually get 200 miles/tank  I thought I read somewhere that the tank holds 21 gallons... why can I only put 18 gallons into the tank when I have to coast into the gas station on fumes?

BTW - Mixed driving, about 30% highway, 70% local

As a 97 EB V-8 owner aswell I get about 210-230 Miles per tank as an average mostly in town driving. Last year I got nearly 300 miles on a tank of gas driving an average of 75mph. Just a measure.

Yeah, good call on that. I noticed that of all these members - kinda seems like the colder area guys get worse MPG. Never thought of the additives in the fuel. It's been on average of 10 degrees over the last couple of weeks here in Michigan. Good thing Im thick blooded- let's see what happens when it warms up.

I constantly and consistantly hit the 270+ mark with the crappy cold weather additivie with about a 50/50 split of in town / highway (let's just say no stopping). Highway only I constantly and consistantly hit the 330+ mark. Maybe you guys should look into some mods to get your MPG up... I think that I've paid for all my mods (except for the Apten chip, but the freekin' power is WONDERFUL!).

Just a thought.

JD, put it on your calendar - I know I'll forget :)

I get close to 200 miles from Full to 1/4 full (when the message center reads "LOW FUEL LEVEL"). The MPG is around 10-11 mpg. I'm using ethanol based gasoline in the winter. I've changed my air filter recently, but it hasn't improved that much. I had an oil change mixup at the dealer recently. At first, they were supposed to put in synthetic, but they put in regular, so I had to point out that I bought my own oil with Mobil-1. They took my car back to the shop and they said they switched it out. I usually get 12-13 MPG in the summer. That thing only has about 28K in over 5 years.

With my 4.6L I get around 14-16 depending on how much highway I do. Most I ever got was just shy of 17mpg. Ain't cheap having a fast SUV.

4.6's haul don't they, another reason I'm going for a 4.6 Mounty, my neighbor's 4.6 Explorer burns our 5.0 Mounty off the line and in passing power......and I just love the 4.6's growl better:D

He gets about what we do, 15-16 in the city. The new 5 speed is awsome and keeps the 4.6 in the powerband the whole time.

i get 14-15 in my 97 awd v8. in city/suburb highways it's not much better, but on long trips it goes up. i put in 87 octane, what about you guys? that shouldn't affect it, right?

My best highway mileage is in the high 17 MPG. I'm pretty disappointed considering my Mustang will get 26 MPG with 3.55's. Of course it's also a 5-speed and possibly half the weight.

10-12 city 15-20 highway 20s rare, but.. after a couple of hours runnin 65.. you stat to see it
