Well you guys were right on the money about the vacum leak,I discovered it today while instaling my new Bosch 4+,It was right were you said on the driverside of the intake their is this fiting that four vacum lines plug into one is the pcv valve and the other is the brake booster. My problem is that on that fitting I found that on the back of the piece there are places for two vacum lines and mine is missing the inner most line.It is just gone I looked around the best I could and I cant find it.If anyone has the same model as me and can look and see wear this line goes maybe I can trace wear mine went.I think it may have fallen behind the engine somewhere, the only way I could get a better look would be to pull the upper manifold and I would like to avoid that if possible. So if someone could check thiers then I would know wear to look.Any ideas what would cause this and my truck seems to be running lean at least thats what my code scanner said.

Hey I just wanted to get this back at the top to better my chances of a reply, maybe IRA,or Paul could you take alook at the fitting on your trucks to help me find that missing vacum line? On the back of the fitting there are places for two lines and mine is missing the one closest to the intake,I have since placed Duck tape over the missing connection and now my truck will stay running but it still isn't idleing smooth so I would like to find the missing line and fix it.Thanks Guys.

I live in jackson and work in cape girardeau. I have a 1991 eddie bauer if you would like to look at the vacuum lines on mine to help locate where your line is supposed to route. You can e-mail me or call me if your still needing help locating your problem.

47Rider,
I don't mind looking at mine. The only problem right now is that it has been pouring down rain. I will be happy to take a look at it tomorrow. From what I can remember, one of the hoses is connected to the fuel pressure regulator which is routed around the back of the intake area, and the other one goes to the airbox where the filter is.

I hope this will help for now, if not, I will look tomorrow and let you know.

There are two vacuum connection points on the back that should be capped . . . nothing connected to them.

47Rider,
Looked at mine and here are the results. First of all, my PCV valve has 2 fittings on it. One of them loops back up to the upper plenum ? (shiny long part over intake manifold) and the second one is plugged. Right above it is what I have heard called the octopus. Mine has 7 fittings built onto it. If you look at it from the drivers front tire, the hoses are set up as follows: 2 hoses coming out at 9 o'clock position, 1 hose at ll o'clock, one at 1 o'clock, one at 2 o'clock, and two at 3 o'clock. At 9:00, one hose goes to cruise control diaphram near driver's fender and the other loops back under octopus and runs parallel with one of the hoses coming off 3:00 position running behind engine (I think one goes to fuel pressure regulator and the other goes to the airbox. At 11:00 position, hose running to brake booster. At 1:00, hose connects to a metal line running over top of plenum and goes down behind engine at passenger's side. At 2:00, plastic hose comes off, runs in conduit beside wiper motor and comes out where A/C lines go into firewall. This hose goes downward and runs into what looks like a wiring harness at the rear of the airbox but it does not connect to the airbox. The last fitting is at 3:00 and has a plug on it.

I hope you can understand my terminology, but it is the best way I can explain it.

Thanks everyone for all the help as I see it I am missing the capped line or just the cap I mean.Anyone have an idea of what I could use as a cap? Oh why is there a fitting there if it is just supposed to be capped? Anyway thanks again to all of you for all the help.

You can get the vacum caps at pepe boys for about $2.00.Look under your back seat were the bolts are for the front legs there should be rubber caps covering the bolts use one for a temporary replacement. And as for why it is capped I have no idea.

I was going to e-mail you the vacuum diagrams but your email address isn't in your profile.

Email me and I'll send it along. The other guys are right...the two fittings on the back of the tree are supposed to be capped. You can also look at the Vehicle Emmissions Label under the hood which should have a diagram for your specific emmissions calibration.

Thanks for the reply, and I would appreciate the diagrams but your e-mail isn't in your profile so here is mine ER02stu@semovm.semo.edu also on the back of my fitting there is one line coming off the piece and from what I understand only the other one is to be capped. Is there any other part stores that sell those caps besides pep boys we don't have in cape.

47Rider,
You should be able to find the caps at about any parts store. They are not a dealer item and will fit just about any model.

47Rider,
My manual shows the port that has the cap is designated for the EGR valve. My 92 does not have an EGR and the port is capped.

As for the other ports you can find a diagram on page 1-14, illustration 10.6 in the Haynes manual..

Hope this helps,
FM
