91 ex with a 94 trans. Ok heres the deal. I was having that 1-2 shifting issue when cold. Replaced the vacuum modulator. Now its worse-hesitates to shift to reverse and worse than ever on forward gears. Dont get it...i did not forget the pin. did i forget to do something else? i hooked the vacuum line back up...should i put the old one back in and see what happens? it was an exact replacement...it looks pretty and is made in the usa. Anyone have a clue about this? Thanks

I'm having a problem of the transmission not shifting into reverse or 1st when i first start up. After driving for a few minutes it's fine, but I do have some tranny fluid in my vacuum lines, from what I hear that's a bad modulator, how do I go about replacing it, or finding out for sure. I definitely have a little burning smell and I go through ATF pretty fast.

Any help would be great...thanks.

a 1-2 shifting issue when cold sounds more like a governor sticking. I had one with an aluminum counterweight that gave ne fits until I swapped it out with a governor with a steel counterweight.

J...hope I helped.

Jack is correct. It sounds like a sticking governor. As for the issue with the new modulator, did you buy the adjustable or non adjustable version? Did you use a wire brush to clean out old transmission fluid with dirt from the bore where the pin goes into?
