Hello All,

I have a 1987 Ford Areostar and I am curious as to how I would know if the Vacuum Modulator Valve on the transmission needs replacing? Over weekend the transmission required me to rev the engine to a high rpm before it would shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. Fluid levels are fine, fluid new, transmission in good condition, there were no leaks. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Heath

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the Aerostar section. Check the vacuum line going to the modulator for signs of leaking transmission fluid. The connector on the 3.0L engine is on the rear of the engine if you are standing in front of the vehicle. Sometimes the vacuum tubing comes off when transmission fluid gets into it.
