I am an owner of a 2000 Exp. that we love. My wife and I decided we need a second car to increase longevity of our 2000 model. The second car we have an opportunity to buy is also an Explorer. A widow lady in our little town, now 83 years old and no longer able to drive. She will sell the car but neither she nor I have any idea what a fair market value would be for this car. Here are the specs and any input as to value would be greatly appreciated.
Year 1974
Model 2D 4x4 XLT
Condition- like new
Milage-35,000
Color-deep green
Transmission- automatic (4 speed?)
Engine (6cylinder but don't know horsepower or size)
Interior is also like new and all auto services performed and recorded.
Thank you for helping me ascertain a fair and reasonable offer for this car.

i didnt think they made X's in 74? if its a 94 by chance its an OHV with 160hp, yes it prob is a 4 speed. sounds like a bargain to me. id say in the area of 6-7 grand maybe. though im not real good on things like that.

A '1974' Explorer? Perhaps it is a 1994?

Whatever the case, your best bet is to scan the local papers, check out web sites like (www.autotrader.com) or ask around for values of like vehicles. It really varies from one place to another. In California it may bring $9000, here in South Carolina you may only get $5000. In Pa, you may get somewhere in between, but it really boils down to both parties agreeing it is a fair price.
I don't mean to be vague but there are so many factors. Regardless, it sounds like a nice truck.

Maybe he means a 1974 Explorer pickup model. i have seen them. They are like Ranger Explorer. I think thats the name.
