Hi, I am replacing the trans filter and gasket on my 2000 expl . I noticed on the backside of the valve body there are 2 or3 little valves, there's a bigger one on drivers side that is flush, but the smaller one on passenger side sticks out the backside at kind of a angle! You can push it in flush with you finger and it comes back out again! Is this the way it's should be? Thanks

Don't think so there should be a bracket that holds them in.can you post a picture? Any trans issues?

The only external part which is capable of moving is the manual slide valve. The parts with springs are inside (behind the separator plate). You shouldn't remove the screws from the separator plate.

You have a 5r55e correct? Does that one use a solenoid pack instead of individual valves like the 4r.?

I will try to post a pic tomorrow! The only thing I took off was the oil pan and the filter! The valves on the backside of the valve body right above the oil filter! The trans sometimes acts like you are in neutral! Then either let up on gas or downshift and away we go! Then it doesn't act up for days! Took pan down today and no filings, fluid nice deep red and no burnt smell! Someone previously put a magnet strip in bottom of pan and was fairly clean! 2000 exp 4.0 ohv, I thought it was a5r55s with individual valves. Thanks
