The front end of my '03 V8 AWD 101k miles start to howl again. Its most definately coming from the front not the center. Its odd when it does it, only from 40-45mph then subsides, then is noticeably loud at 70+mph. I replaced the wheel bearings last year and just replaced them again this weekend to elimate them as the issue. The front diff fluid has been changed every 50k with Amsoil 80w-90, recently changed this weeked with no change in the howl, and no visual metal specs when I siphoned out the fluid. Rotated the tires a few times to elimate the tires, but that is null since it still howls on snow covered road.

From some searching here looks like I need to remove the front driveshaft to see if its a balance issue. If the sound goes away with the front d-shaft removal its time for a new shaft? Am I on the right track here, or does any have a better idea what my issue is.
