1991 EB 4x4 5-spd!
My '91 did something very unusual. While driving on the interstate at 70mph (end of 200-mile trip outside temp 75), the engine briefly cut out. Then, about 30 minutes later, it started cutting out severely. By 'cutting out', I mean it would stop producing power for about half-second, then produce power for a second, cut-out again, gain power, etc. Now, the engine will idle OK, but if I attempt to accelerate, the engine cuts out severely. However, at high RPM (>4000), and at full throttle, the engine runs smoothly, then cuts out severely when I let off the gas. So, I am now a banzai driver. This thing is very hard to drive in any traffic. I did make the return trip (200 miles) at 65 mph in 4th gear (It was a long trip) to my home so I can fix this problem. Thoughts? Causes? Suggestions (Other than ditch the car)?
Thanks.

I had a similiar problem this past week and i solved it by replacing the TP sensor... try that, its easy to replace and its only about 30-40 bucks for the part. Dont forget to reset the computer (unplug the battery for about 30-45 mins).
Good LUck!!

PS Welcome to the board, theres alot of info on here, just do a quick search from time to time and youll find a whole bunch of results!!!

Mine did the EXACT same thing. Since I do a lot of highway road trips, I was in the middle of nowhere. The next exit had an Autozone just about to close. I bought a new ignition module ($134). It only hurt for about 5 minutes because it solved the problem immediately. The module is infront of the battery and is held on by on screw (I think its a torx screw). Good luck! Let us know what happens.
