I notice i have quite a bit of vibration when i'm sitting at a stop light/sign. As soon as I push on the gas to go, all the vibration goes away and it's smooth as silk. Anyone else have this problem/have a solution. I just did a tune up about a month ago and it didn't help, so....Thanks.

my friend had the same problem. He hasnt quite figured it out yet. his vibration only happens when the brakes are applied, including at idle. So im guessing its a braking problem. Possibly something with the rotors?

If it happens while just "sitting" and a stop light or sign and not "coming to a stop," then the problem is not with the brakes or the rotors. It could only lie in the engine or the transmission, since they are the only things rotating when the truck is stopped. Do you notice any variation in engine speed in the tach while sitting?? Is the vibration constant or does it come and go? Does it happen in park too, or only when the truck is in gear??

I seem to notice that when it's cold outside, the vibration at idle seems worse. I notice that you live in IL. Did you notice this when it was warm too? Mine is completely gone in warm weather but is noticible in cold weather. That being said though, probably the first thing I would check would be the engine mounts. One of my friends had a horrid vibration at idle in her Corolla and it turned out that she had a cracked engine mount.

Mine does the exact same thing. It's been doing it since I bought my truck.

Hoamskillet,

If you find something out, please let us know...
Mine does the exact same thing....warm or cold outside...

Have you messed with your exhaust recently? Cuz after I got my exhaust done my truck did that same thing and I found out that it was the pipes hitting my frame.

Mine does it too, started after i changed my tailpipe from side to rear and 2 1/4 to 2 1/2. It not as bad as it used to be though.

Sorry I haven't replied guys, forgot I even posted this, and didn't know anyone had answered

Sorry I haven't replied guys, forgot I even posted this, and didn't know anyone had answered. When I'm sittin still it does come and go. It will idle real real smooth for a minute and then go back to vibrating. It got pretty warm a few days ago, and it seemed to idle better. I haven't touched the exhaust.

That's exactly what mine does. I think it's just a by-product of the cold weather.

When you sit at a stop light in gear does your tachometer bounce along with the vibration or does it idle steady? If the tachometer bounces check your MAF and IAC and make sure your air filter/fuel filter isn't plugged.

If your tach stays fairly steady chances are that full current isn't going to one of the cylinders causing it to only partially fire throwing the engine's momentum offline. Under heavy load (full acceleration) current can be forced along a wire with lots of ohms resistance and it doesn't show as badly. WHen very little load is applied the current will take the easiest way out. Sounds like my girlfriend's kids :D Change your plugs and wires, that's my advice.

I haven't notice the tach. bouncin, but then again I really haven't been watching for it. Changing the plugs and wires was the first thing I did when I got it a little over a month ago.

The gas pedal on mine has always vibrated in gear at a stop..... Just lean my foot against it while holding the brake down, no more noise.
