I've never been asked by any insurance company if I had the VIN etched on the windows. A vehicle's VIN is already etched/stamped in various places on today's vehicles so I don't know why windows in particular would be a big deal for insurance companys.

You may want to ask … I receive a discount from my insurance agent Allstate for the window etching.
