From Visteon

Compatible with the Ford OE CD changers

I've seen that deck before, but I've never heard/used it. The web site says it will work with a factory cd-changer. I think it is plug and play compatible with the factory deck.

I've looked into it, but can't justify the cost. By the way just so you know, visteon is Ford. Kinda like AC Delco is GM? It's like another brand that has a special business alliance with Ford, so your stereo you have now is actually a visteon, even though it says ford on it.
I've heard good things about it from many people but like I said, just can't justify the cost yet.

Thanks, Matt, it does look like a nice unit.

Do you or anyone else know the RMS W output of the factory amp?

Thanks....

I'm looking into getting one. I love MP3's but I don't want a DIN sized radio in that big hole.
I just wish that in addition to being factory compatible that they built more into it, like preamp outputs.

yeah there was an explanation on that over on f150online.com. If you go over to f150online.com and do a search for evisteon or mach3 you should come up with it... one of the guys on that board actually works for visteon and often has some great insight on there stereos. They don't always make sense, but at least you get explanations :).
I also wish that since they tried to make it look like stock, that you could get a stock-looking faceplate. I don't want to sound picky but the whole reason for going with that unit would be because it looks and feels stock and is fully compatible with my Ford amp, etc... but I hate the fact that it looks so different... I mean come on... white faceplate? ewww...

Like Matt I can't justify the cost of one, so I'll just keep burning mp3's and converting them to a wav file so I can listen to them in my car...

Now wait a second. . I was thinking white faceplate, and white guages would look kind of cool. . .

I did that too, until I ended up toting around 12 CDs! Now I have 12 CDs on one CD-RW. You don't have to shell out the kind of $$ for the Visteon player to get MP3 capabilities. On the downside of the Visteon - the display looks pretty archaic. If you're going for stock, then that's OK, but you'll also pay throught the nose.

for how much that costs? cd-r's will work me.

Well, I could have filled more than 12 discs, but I anticipated getting an MP3 player soon! You can get a good in-dash MP3 player for $200 - $350. I found good prices and service at www.onlinecarstereo.com.
