I was just wondering if anyone had tried the store bought R-143 airconditioning recharge/conversion kits. My A/C has had it, my mechanic said it'll probly cost around 200-250 to have him retrofit it. Thanx

if you have a 94 or later you already have r134a.... a recharge kit is like 40 bucks

Recharge????

So for a 93 or earlier, do you need to have some sort of A/C update if you wanted to get a recharge?

if its 93 or older, you can just buy the r134a conversion and it takes not long at all...

but you have to make sure all your old r12 freon is drained.

Yeah, i have a 92, I know what kit and everything i need, i just want someone who has personaly used it, on a 91-94, to give me an opionion. Thankx

how can i recharge my 96 explorer so i can get cold air to come out of it? i mean really cold. the air which comes out now is hardly cold

It works!

I bought the kit from WalMart last summer and put it in my 91 It worked great all summer but I have a small leak somewhere and I had to recharge this year (guess that's why they took R 12 off the market) They have A whole line of products that go with the R13a at Auto Zone,Leak seal. which I'm going to try next time and some stuff that makes the air 10 degrees cooler
