OK, i am going to regear. I can't take these 3.27's anymore! i have 31's, i plan on 32's in a while after my lift. I will be at the beach all summer and i live two hours away at the moment. Then i will be at NCSU in raliegh in a year andtaht is 2 hours away. I want a limited slip in the front and back. I go on the beach a lot and mud and climbing varoius stuff. I wanna see what you all think. what should i do and what would it cost me. plus how long would it take. thanks

Hmmm, from 3.27s I'd go to 3.73s or 4.10s. Since you're kinda used to the low power of the 3.27s I'd only go to the 3.73s to try to keep decent mileage. As for lockers, I'd go with a full locker in the front and an LS or posi in the rear. Many members have found that a full locker in the front is much better than a front ls or posi, and you'll be fine only using the locker in true off-road situations. In the rear I'd recommend a Powertrax no-slip which is a locker that's engineered with good road manners or an Eaton posi unit that has very good road manners and varying degrees of lock. I'm running an Eaton posi and I'm very pleased.

Costs and time: Each gear set will be $180-$200 new. Lockers and posi's range from about $200 per axle to $400 per axle. Pro installation is usually $300-$450 per axle and will take a pro the better part of a day to complete both axles.

Good luck!

Go with 4.10s if you're intending on getting 32's later on.

With a locker in the front, you need to have manual hubs to make driving and steering more livable.

yeah i got warn hubs. i seem to always break the blasted o-ring in it. I want 4:10's. I can get my gears and such cheap because i work at a heavy duty truck shop, and we have suppleries with gear set for about 80 dollars and 40 for an installation kit. it is getting it installed that i am wondering. I can do the rear myself, but i'd have to get someone to do the front. I just want some power and keep me wheels from spinning on the beach. I don't know that much about the powertrax, though. i will have to see how things fan out.

Powertrax does not have that much information out on its No-Slip. You'd probably get better information from the people on this BB regarding the set up, usage, feel, etc.

If you can do the rear yourself why can't you do the front? It's the same deal setting the front up as the back. Can someone in your shop help or guide you? That's whats usually most economical.

yeah that is probably what i'll do. the problem with my shop is we don't have a lift. I got to do all the work while the truck is on jack stands. it is a pain doing all that work on your back. I am going to replace all my bushing and body mounts too. all poly.
