I scheduled an appointment to have warranty work done on my 94 xlt 4x4 for this coming Monday. I know there is tranny fuild leaking from between the tranny and the engine and also I'll be getting the front bearings done. My concern is that the truck has 5000kms left before the Ford ESP powertrain warranty ends. Is there anything they show be checking? Guys, this is one of those "down to the wire" not much warranty left kind of things. If I can get it replaced then I'd like to do it now. What do you guys think. I'm kind of concerned about the tranny fluid leak. It doesn't leave a patch on the driveway but it is enough to concern me. Another thing, the transfer case is damp with oil around the seals. Should I request this done as well? Any input would help. Maybe some of you have had warranty work done before and can give me some suggestions. Are the dealers normally keen on going all out on these types of jobs? The warranty is an actual "Ford ESP" warranty, so I believe the dealer will probably do as much as possible as it should be billed back to Ford. By the way I bought the truck in December with 142,000 kms on it and purchased the warranty then. I look forward to your responses. Thanks for everything guys!!!!!!

i would have them take a look at everything that is covered. Make up some noises or something like that If there is anything wrong they'll find it. I took my 97 in for a recall on the throttle body and the front swaybar. They replaced that i told them that it seemed to be riding and running ruff. they ended up replaceing both front ball joints, the timing chain, and mass air sensor. which came out to just over $2,500. You have to love warranties.

Thanks for the tips. The only difference is, my warranty is strictly a powertrain warranty is there anything that I may be able to bring to the mechanics attention such as internal trans or engine parts?

If they have to put in a main seal for the trannie leak might as well have an oil pump at the same time.

How do you think I can get the oil pump done under warranty? They'll only be replacing parts that need replacing. Any suggestions on how to get them do do it?

I'm also starting to hear a tick, tick, tick when then engine is idling. Could it be the lifters?

It could be the lifters you are hearing tick. is it only at idle? i had to get my timing chain and gears replace they were causing the tick on mine. You could hear it from idle to about 3500 rpm. As for the oil pump I don't see them replacing it for free. Do you have any options to by an extented warranty? I bought mine from the dearlership and it has already paid for itself three times over.

You are also hearing strange noises from your transmission, aren't you?

Thanks Flatlander, and yes I only hear the tick at low RPM from idle to about 2000rpm. I thought the oil pump would be a little fishy but you think the tick may be the timing chain or lifters. I'll let them know when I bring it in. This will be interesting and I'll post the owrk that was done when I get it back.
Thanks All
