I just raised the front of my 2000 Xsport and called 2 different 4 wheel drive suppliers and they tell me that a rear shackle kit is not available for the 2000 explorer 4x4...after raising my front, it looks like I need to raise the rear like 3"...is every one using a older kit or one from another make and model?

If this info doesn't help, then I will build my own shackle kit...I am a metal fabricator and will have no problem doing this myself, but it would be faster to bolt on a kit...if the kit only does 1.5 inches, then it may not be worth the money...any advise on the matter?...I just like my rear a little higher then the front.

Umm is your sport a mono-leaf suspension or is it a leaf pack? Reason I say this is cause the sports from the factory were mono leaf.. If they are, I'd swap them over to a set of 4 door leafs first before installing shackles.

Yah...a mono leaf spring with 3 more short pieces under it...it does have a nice ride I'd like to retain...I was just going to redo the stock shackles to get the lift I needed.

Thanks for the WARRIOR part number

Dave

The Warrior shackles will work ok for years with the monoleaf but it will flatten out after a while. Installed ARB OME leaf spring pack last summer, and a huge difference.

So what year and model did you get your springs from?...was it another Ford or aftermarket spring and if so do you have a part number cuz it seems that these counter guys are book retarded and don't know squat about building 4x4's, they just know what the book says.

Thanks for the help!, much appreciated.

The "Old" part number was OME-36.. ARB and Old Man Emu are same company (I think one is parent.. not positive).. We have run the OME-36 springs for years.. Our lost all its lift after some hard wheeling and about 200k miles on them.. If they made a taller (more lift) spring I would have bought the replacement pack from them.

They are "listed" for a 2nd gen X but the X uses interchangable springs (physical dimensions) from 1991 until they came out with the IRS..

As for where to get them.. Forget the local autoparts store.. Any 4x4 shop that can get ARB parts should be able to get them.. Or go directly to www.arbusa.com and see who they list. Last time I checked, they considered the rear springs a "suspension system".. so you had to look in that section of their website.. AND the part # is no longer OME-36.

If you guys are having problems, one of the uk members- Kevin P, makes them tok the same spec as warrior shackles. I and many more have them fitted and done tt on our Exs. The quality is superb, first class in everyway. He has also made up arc sensor bracket adapters to compensate for the additional lift.
Look him up and pm him for details. I took a few pics and posted them in the uk section of his shackles b4 I fitted them.

Correct, they are not ARB OME-36 anymore. They are now called Dakar. I will look up the part no I ordered. ARB's website will have dealers for each state as mentioned. I ordered mine from a Spring Shop. They are not made in Australia anymore so they are cheaper also.

Here is a link to the ARB website and the Dakar leaf spring pack.

I do not see any info for Explorers so I will check my receipt. The rep. I spoke with at ARB was Scott and he was extremely knowledgable. I also purchased extended shocks as well as the Edelbrok IAS performers were maxed out. Edlebrocks handled great before the lift but not very well after the lift.

My notes say CS042R is the new part # for the explorers and were $180 each.

$180 bucks for one spring!!!...Damn, 4 wheel 'n has gotten really expensive!...I think I will stick with the shackle lift....thanks for all the advise:D

Mark, thanks, saves me looking up the receipt. Yes that is the part no. I think I paid $167 each but shipping was kind of steep.

Dave

you can always go to a junk yard and pull them for cheap

Junk yard springs won't ride as nice as the OME springs. IIRC they are 180 and 210 spring rates and give "about" 1.5" lift (I think it 1.5.. it "might" be 2")..

I've had many comments about how well they rode over the years... BUT they are not the best for towing, they are soft and allow great flex but the overload is set to you have to get them flat before you are on the overload which can make for some odd towing if you put lots of weight on them.

Are Warrior the only mob that make the shackles?

Not all the Sports had monoleaf rear springs. IIRC, they went back to a spring pack late in 2000 or for 2001.

That's not a mono-leaf. That's a spring pack. The monoleaf has but one and only one piece.
