I have read the other threads but there seemed to be no definitive answer to this question. I have a 99 XLT with a Hidden Hitch Round Tube Class III Hitch, I want to install the Warrior WAR153 shackles but I'm worried about the clearance. Has anybody else this same setup that has encountered this problem? I want to know for sure before I go and order the shackles.

Hidden Hitch Part# 70647

Thanks for all the help.

No problem for me.

no problem with the hitch and the shackles..

I had a problem with the reese hidden hitch and a 31" spare, (wouldn't fit) but I fixed it with a little grinding and re-welding :D

but as far as the hitch and shackle's, as GJarrett stated...
No problem for me.

Hidden Hitch has 2 models out there of a hitch that fits the same year explorers......

One Hitch mounts on the Outside of the frame rails (Old design) and the Other Hitch mounts on the Inside of the frame rails(New Design) and you will have problems with the old design and no problems with the new one.

I thought the same thing before adding shackles. It looks like they will hit the hitch, but they won't. Looks very decieving.

i've got the draw tite class 3 tube with the warriors, and not a problem. go for it!

Update: Installed the shackles today and there is no contact between the shackles and the hitch even with the springs under full compression. Never hurts to have a little paranoia though. Thanks to everyone for the feedback, this is a great cheap mod and I'd recommend anyone thinking about doing it to just go for it!!

I've been worried about the same thing. I'm all set to go with the Warrior install tomorrow.
