I'm trying to figure out a problem with my front washer. My rear washer works fine. Squirts great. My front won't do a thing when I press the button, just the wipers work. I blew out the lines...nothing clogged. So, I am figuring it must be the pump has gone bad unless the front and rear are on two different fuses. My Ford is a '96 Explorer Sport. Any sugestions? Thanks

I am uncertain with the fuses, but it is a small pump attached to the tank, you can probably just go the junk yard and grab one for a few $, it should be a black cylinder on the tank, not sure how it is attached though.

Thanks for the info!

Update... I'm kinda confused. I have been studying washer repair on here so here it is. Checked fuses. No problem there. I found my aux relay box and pulled both of the relays for front and back washers and the back still pumps water? Why is that? I read that if it isn't a bad pump in front it could be my multi-function switch in the steering column. When I press the button I don't hear no motor running like I do on the back. What should I check for and how? Thanks!

Are you sure you pulled the right relays, the rear should not work at all if the relay is pulled. Here is something easy to try, have somebody push the switch to the on position, and then take a volt meter, at the place where the wiring plugs into the pump and see what sort of voltage you get, you should get 12 volts if it is on, and nothing when it is off. if you get 12 volts, then the pump is bad, if not, then something else further up in the wiring.

if you are lost just ask I can take some pictures if it helps you.

I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

If it was the multifunction switch the wipers wouldn't work. The explorer has 2 pumps one for the front and one for the rear. Switch the pump lines and see if the front works. If it does then you need a new pump.

Im having the opposite issue, my washer pump will not stop running, what would cause this?
