Started a month ago, we've had some serious rain and now there is water in the floor mat on the passenger side after it rains. No moon roof, I assume there is some drain under the windshield wiper cowl I need to clear out? anyone else have this issue?

yes, that's a common issue.
The drains under the windshield wiper cowl often get clogged and cause water to leak inside 😒

The cowl looks similar to the 2014+ escape, where it is a top/bottom two piece you can take apart after removing the wiper arms. And then is the drain easy to see/find?

There is a thread on this, complete with a picture of what is causing the leak. Unfortunately, I am unable to find it. The picture shows something that resembles a cup filled with debris, preventing the water from draining. I believe it is located under the grille on the passenger side. I don't recall if it was accessed from the engine compartment or if the cowl had to be removed.
