i was getting a lot of steam out the tailpipe and losing a LOT of coolant that's why i started taking it apart. i hope it doesnt have a cracked head i heard these are kinda prone to that. compression test didnt tell me much. all cylinders were 180 except numbers 1 and 3 were 160.
can i find cracks at home? shop wants 80$ to pressure test and clean them. i can check to see if they're warped with a straight edge right? i've taken heads off before but never to repair them, only to replace them.
I had water in my oil and it turned out to be the intake gasket. The engine ran strong and I didn't notice any performance loss. Only when I checked the oil did I notice the milkshake color and knew there was something wrong. Hopefully yours is the same situation.
Looks like the water passages on both sides closest to the firewall are all blocked off with rust/junk.
Mine was leaking from the drivers side water passage closest to the firewall. I didn't see what my intake looked like when they had it apart, so I can't tell you if that is normal build-up on the intake or not. Sorry.
the water passages are definitely gunked up. the ones on the back, closest to firewall, don't seem to actually run through the intake like the front. they are dead ends at the intake and that seems kinda weird.
